If they really have problems with that , I think is a need to get help frm the mental of health or counselling is needed , before its too late.

i think they can plan their time table like going out with friend to chalet,Sentoesa,etc or go to library to read some book about Hitsory,music,world warII,etc or go to community club and join some activitive like cooking,dancing,kong fu,etc... If they really cant control themself of staying away from the computer,they can go counsellings and ask for help or advice of how to spend on useful time.

And its never easy to change a habit.Communicating with friends who are more ative in sports & they can share their way of life rather than spending the time using computer,I wont choose talking to an adult about internet addiction as they might not know what you really want.As you might not express the same meaning you wanted & they think.
